American actor Jussie Smollett, who is known for his work in the television show Empire, was hospitalised on Tuesday, January 29 in Chicago following a possibly hate-motivated attack. Police and Jussie's co-workers have said that during the attack assailants tied a rope around his neck.
A TMZ report stated that the 35-year-old actor was approached by two suspects who yelled racial and homophobic slurs before punching him, pouring an unknown chemical substance over him, and wrapping a rope around his neck. The incident took place at 2 am.
