Neena Gupta is hoping to get substantial roles
In a recent interview, Neena said that while women were being offered better roles today, a gender bias still existed. And although she was glad with the change, she is hoping that older women also get meatier roles. She added that while men her age continued to get lead roles, she is often asked to play the role of a grandmother, something that she finds unfair. She said she always asks filmmakers why she should play a grandmother when there are so many other characters that she can portray. Neena said that she has received nice offers that she is contemplating and willing to explore. The actress also revealed that she would like to do the roles that Meryl Streep did in Hollywood and was hopeful of doing something similar.
