Mr Majnu preview: Will Akhil and Venky recreate the magic of Hello and Tholi Prema?
With the title inspired by an old film of Nagarjuna’s named ‘Majnu’, the teaser, trailer, music and all other promotional material of the film have been released exceptionally well. The jukebox especially has been a huge hit with fans, with many commenting on social media how their expectations for Thaman have now been upped thanks to the foot-tapping numbers. The teaser of the film and trailer too met with positive response when they released with the chemistry between Akhil Akkineni’s character Vikki and Nidhhi Agerwal’s character Nikki coming off well.
While the teaser did not reveal much other than Akhil’s character being a playboy, the trailer made it clear that his character would suffer from commitment issues despite being in love. While his life usually revolves around dates, flings and girls, a wrench is thrown into his plans when he falls for Nikki. What ensues is her convincing the commitment phobic man to date her at least for two months, a novelty for the man. The content of the film seems relatable to the millennial generation, not surprising seeing as how Venky Atluri’s debut ‘Tholi Prema’ dealt with relationship troubles between a young couple too. And Akhil Akkineni’s previous film ‘Hello’ was received well, despite not raking in business at the box office.
The film’s pre-release event was held recently, attended by not just his father Nagarjuna and brother Naga Chaitanya, but also by ‘Aravindha Sametha’ star Jr NTR. The music director Thaman S even clicked a picture of Akhil with Jr NTR and Ram Charan after the event, with it going viral on social media after. Sharing the picture, Thaman wrote, “Happy to have clicked this lovely pic !! On the day of the event :) Such a lovely bonding these three have :)” (sic)
